This week on the podcast we are delighted to have returning guest John Mikton. John is the Tech Director of a large International School in Luxembourg and we have a wide-ranging chat about the current situation with rolling lockdowns and schools having a fluid situation with opening/hybrid learning / teaching online.
Some of the topics we discuss are:
- COVID one year in - lessons learned

- What have we seen in terms of teachers working from their existing classrooms or from home for remote learning
- How are the parents handling the current situation
- What's happening with PD - mostly on hold?
- School tech/IT teams teamwork and culture - Are most still going in to school, or hybrid/work from home? How is it going?
- Different support requests? The increased volume of work?
- How is existing software holding up? What new systems have thrived in COVID times?
- Are many schools signing up to both Google and Microsoft?
- How are tech coaches handling this - are they teaching 1:1 online or in person at the school. Are they helping teachers adapt their teaching styles?
- Future of PD and conferences?
- Changing role of Tech Director? Change in composition of their teams?
- Issues with International School enrolments if this situation continues through 2021
