I met Miika in Helsinki a few years ago. He’s an interesting guy: Teacher, game developer, and also sings in a Hardcore Punk band! I was interested to learn more about the highly-rated Finnish education system and what it’s like to be a teacher there. Macao is a fascinating place: A former Portuguese colony and a ’Special Administrative Region’ of China, located close to Hong Hong. Mel Varga is the Technology Integration Coordinator at the International School of Macao and a long term resident.
Mel talks about living and working in Macao and there is some really good information for anyone considering living there. Next we discuss the return to school ‘post-COVID’ as Macao is one of the first places to have students return to school. This is useful information for educators in Europe as they look towards the return to school.
